Edwin Larson
Mr. Larson most recently completed production of the two-hour documentary film "1362 - The Kensington Enigma" that chronicles the evidence of early Norse explorers in pre-Columbian North America. The program is hosted by John Rhys-Davies and features other guest stars. Mr. Larson is currently working with Mr. Vandiver (see below) and Mr. McGahan (see below) on a British ensemble comedy feature film entitled "A Monster Problem". He also recently joined forces with former head of Paramount Pictures and best-selling author, Robert Evans, to develop a television series created by Mr. Larson entitled "Cafe Noir." In 1999 Mr. Larson and Mr. Guinness (see below) formed United International Film Corp. (UIFC) The Company operated out of its offices at Fox Studios in Sydney Australia, and offices in Los Angeles and Toronto . Mr. Larson negotiated and acquired the company's library of more than eighty properties. Mr. Larson and his team acquired, produced, and distributed products broadcast by various entities including National Geographic Television (USA), NBC (USA), Discovery Channel (USA), Public Broadcasting System (USA), the Playboy Channel (USA), the Seven Network (Australia), ABC (Australia), SBS Television (Australia), the Nine Network (Australia), the Ten Network (Australia), ZDF (Germany), BBC (UK), Canal Plus (France), France 2 (France), France 3 (France) Junior TV (Italy) and NHK (Japan) among many others.
As Producer of UIFC original programs, Mr. Larson earned the 2001 Telly Awards, The 2002 Telly Award and the 2002 Aegis Award. He was also responsible for the successful international television distribution of "Jihad in America-Terrorists Among Us", an undercover expose on Islamic terrorist cells operating in the United States and Great Britain . That program garnered the accolades of the press including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, USA Today, The New York Times and other major publications. Footage captured during the filming of that program was used as evidence against four co-conspirators of the 9-11 tragedy.
In 1994 Mr. Larson formed United Productions Inc. (UPI) where he created, produced, and directed the live-action sci-fi children's television series titled "Cyberkidz." He negotiated and executed distribution and licensing agreements with Keller Entertainment (International), Kaleidoscope Entertainment (Canada), Western International Syndication (USA) Associated Television International, (International), and Link Group (Merchandising). The "Cyberkidz" series enjoyed multiple runs on major broadcasters in more than seventy-three countries around the world. He was responsible for all production, distribution, and studio operations. UPI Studio clients included Disney, Showtime, Full Moon, Panasonic, and The Playboy Channel to name a few.
He also created and developed a television series entitled "The Sam Hill Chronicles" which was purchased for option by Keller Entertainment (Conan, Tarzan, Acapulco Heat).Prior to the foregoing, Mr. Larson, as a licensed member of the NASD, held the position of Vice President of Marketing with an international securities/investment-banking firm. He was responsible for financing, of motion pictures including "Rocky V" w/ Sylvester Stallone, "Rain Man" with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman "James Bond - License to Kill" w/ Timothy Dalton and "Sliver" w/ Sharon Stone and "The Two Jakes" ("China Town" sequel) starring Jack Nicholson and produced by Robert Evans.
In 1982 he accepted a position with The Bowman Company as Senior Vice President. His responsibilities included; sales, marketing, and programming for KFOX FM Los Angeles and KCOW San Diego, special events, live performances, interviews and guest appearances with top country music celebrities. He also wrote and produced national, and regional, television and radio advertising spots for clients including Harley Davidson, The Stouffer Corporation, Radisson, Sheraton, and many others. Prior to that Mr. Larson was employed by various media concerns including KXLI TV ( Minneapolis MN ) and KLIN AM/FM ( Lincoln Nebraska ).
Scott Vandiver
Mr. Vandiver is a co-executive producer of “1362 The Kensington Enigma” and is responsible for distribution for ths and other UIF properties.
Mr. Vandiver recently wrapped principle photography on the feature film The "Head Hunter", a true story, starring Tom Sizemore, Max Perlich, and Peter Dobson as Elvis Presley. Last year he produced Dead Rail, starring Lou Diamond Phillips, for the Universal Television's SciFi Channel and Promark Entertainment Group/P.OV. Pictures. His last production “Sabretooth” staring David Keith, John Rhys-Davies and Vanessa Angel premiered as the #1 rated movie on the SciFi Channel in the fall of 2002 and continues to be a popular broadcast on that network. The film made its video debut in May 2003 via Lion's Gate Entertainment. In the spring of 2001 he completed production of “Beneath Loch Ness” starring Patrick Bergin and Lysette Anthony that is being distributed in the US by Dimension/Miramax. In 1995 he formed Brimstone Entertainment, a production/distribution company. During his tenure with Brimstone he produced “My Brother the Pig” a Nickelodeon Premiere starring Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendez & Judge Reinhold.
Scott Co-Executive Produced the Russell Mulcahy horror/thriller Tale of the Mummy” distributed by Miramax and Buena Vista International. He also Executive Produced “Black Dawn” starring Lorenzo Lamas that aired on HBO/Cinemax and was released on video by Lions Gate. He distributed more than 25 films internationally including: “Mind Games” starring Brian Krauss, “Soliel Moon Frye”; and “Diamonds in the Rough” (HBOCinemax); among others. During 1994 through the fall of 1995, Mr. Vandiver was Senior Vice President of U.P.I. While there he assisted in the development of a television series entitled “The Sam Hill Chronicles” that was optioned by Keller Entertainment Group (Tarzan, Conan, Acapulco Heat.). He was instrumental in the development, financing, production and distribution of the “Cyberkidz” television series as well as other projects owned by U.P.I. Mr. Vandiver also co-produced that series. He led the sales and marketing force behind all U.P.I. products including foreign sales, video, and merchandising.
After Graduating from Ball State University in 1991, Mr. Vandiver began his career in the Film and Television industry at Saban Entertainment of “Power Rangers” fame. Mr. Vandiver was involved the in the selling and success of such television hits such as “Sweet Valley High”, “V.R. Troopers”, “Creepy Crawlers”, “Battletech” and other Saban syndicated product. His experience combined with the business relationships he has forged in this industry make Mr. Vandiver a tremendous asset to any production
Nicholas Geist
Mr. Geist's efforts as Co-Producer and Editor on UIFC's production of “Ocean Hunters Extreme”, earned him the 2002 Aegis Award and 2002 Telly Award. He is currently supervising post-production, editorial and visual effects of three projects. Mr. Geist and Mr. Larson personally oversaw all production aspects of the two-hour documentary entitled “1362 The Kensington Enigma”.
Mr. Geist is actively involved in the production of all UIFC advertising and marketing materials, trade-show coordination, and the issuance of press releases. He is also responsible for coordinating and packaging deliverables to broadcasters and distribution entities.
Mr. Geist has extensive experience in the production of contemporary music videos. In 2000 alone his efforts as Post Production Supervisor and Editor earned three MTV Video Music Awards. Martin Guinness
UIF/Guinness Entertainment - Fox Studios Australia. Mr. Guinness has produced more than twenty-eight projects, including telefilms, series, documentaries, and features. Of those he has written seven, and directed five. His productions are seen regularly in nearly every country around the world. Various broadcasters include National Geographic Television (USA), Discovery Channel (USA), Public Broadcasting System (USA), the Playboy Channel (USA), the Seven Network (Australia), ABC (Australia), SBS Television (Australia), the Nine Network (Australia), the Ten Network (Australia), ZDF (Germany), BBC (UK), Canal Plus (France), NHK (Japan) among others.
Mr. Guinness produced a twenty-episode children's series “Ladybird,” for the Ten Network, that earned extremely high market shares, and critical acclaim from parent-teacher associations for responsible programming.
Mr. Guinness' documentary films have earned him a multitude of awards. In the past few years alone he has received the following awards: 1997 New York International Film Festival - Best of Festival Documentary (USA), Telluride Mountainfilm (USA), 1997 Autrans Film Festival - Grand Prix Award (France), 1997 International Adventure Film Festival - Best of Festival (India), 1996 Banff Festival (Canada), 1996 Trento Film Festival (Italy), 1996 International Festival of Films (Czech Republic), 1996 Poprad Festival (Slovakia), 1996 Graz Festival (Austria). His 13 x 1/2hr series entitled “That Thing You Do” was picked up by SBS Television. The series is hosted by Australian television personality, Andrew Urban. He is an Official Jury Member of the AFI Awards, an Official Peer for the Australian Council for the Arts, a Member of ASDA (Australian Screen Directors Association), member of the International Documentary Association and a Production Consultant for National Geographic Television. Mr. Guinness is currently negotiating the rights to produce the Australian version of the hit MTV series entitled The Real World, on behalf of U.I.F.C. and Guinness Entertainment,
Mike McGahan
Mr. McGahan played a key role in the administrative affairs and in post production for "1362 The Kensington Enimga" documentary. He is Principal and President of MaXtanic Films, Inc. a company he formed in 2004 for the purpose of producing sports and other documentaries. Over the past twelve years Mr. McGahan was CEO and principal of Prior Martech, a regional consulting company serving the northwest. He has served as Principal in Charge on many assignments including market based strategic planning, governance, and succession and incentive plans, industrial engineering, and development of financial and operational pro formas. He has facilitated many international and diverse organizations in the development of mission statements and resultant strategic and business plans.
Mr. McGahan has worked with organizational issues with various medical and professional organizations including Pacific Medical, Seattle Radiologists, Washington State Medical Association, During that period he formed Calibur Mortgage Group, Inc. and served as CFO. He also acquired Riverside Steel Fabricators, and served as CEO.
Mr. McGahan has since sold his interests in all but MaXtanic Films. Mr. McGahan has also owned and operated an aircraft and boat leasing company and a fiberglass production company. He has been President of the Board of three public/private airports and is familiar with dealing with diverse interests.
Prior to acquiring Prior/Martech he held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for The Robbins Company, a worldwide manufacturer of underground mechanical excavation equipment. He was accountable for all product lines, divisions and worldwide operations including South Africa, Australia, and Canada. His responsibilities encompassed marketing, engineering and manufacturing. He established a European Operations Center and negotiated and operated joint ventures for the manufacture and sale of products throughout the world. He supervised numerous world-class construction projects. He was project manager of the development, manufacture and operation of the tunnel boring equipment for the English Channel “Chunnel” project.
Previous to the position with The Robbins Company, Mr. McGahan served as Director of Marketing, Materials Manager, and Production Control Manager for a worldwide equipment manufacturer in Portland, Oregon. He was responsible for marketing all products of the company, including those from facilities located in Canada and in the Mid-West. He developed state of the art operating systems such as MRP II, rough cut planning, and projection models for financial and operating information.
Mr. McGahan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Business from Oregon State University and has completed postgraduate work in finance and accounting toward a CPA. He is currently certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by the American Production and Inventory Control society (APICS)
Marvin Poole
Mr. Poole specializes in domestic and international distribution of documentaries, feature films, special interest and variety programming. He has been active in distributing UIFC's completed titles and played a key role in the production and distribution of “Triumph Over Tragedy”, a two-hour documentary dealing with worldwide acts of terrorism and the recent World Trade Center catastrophe. Prior to joining UIFC, Mr. Poole was President of International and Domestic Sales for Korea-based Media Film International. He attended all major markets and spent six months in Korea researching sales trends in Asia.
Mr. Poole wrote and co-directed “Yonggary” aka “Reptillian”, an 8 million dollar feature film financed by Korea-based Zeronine Entertainment. “Reptilian” was acquired by Colombia Tristar and released in the United States as of September 2001.As an independent consultant, Mr. Poole represented Brimstone Entertainment, an independent production/distribution company with a library of feature films with budgets from two to ten million dollars. He successfully licensed rights for theatrical, video and television in major territories including Germany, Spain and Italy.In 1998.
Mr. Poole led the domestic and international sales team at 4 CORNERS ENTERTAINMENT and licensed 10 feature film titles to video and broadcast buyers that resulted in sales of over five million dollars for his company that fiscal year.
In 1997, he joined G.E.L. Entertainment where he was responsible for video and broadcast licensing of over fifteen titles to the international marketplace. “American Warriors”, a 12-part documentary series was bought by The Discovery Channel in the US and sold in all major territories around the world.
Mr. Poole began his film career in 1993 as International Sales Executive for Artist View Entertainment, where he was in charge of sales for over 100 feature films and specialty programming with budgets ranging from two to five million dollars. Mr. Poole achieved sales exceeding twenty-five million dollars and built relationships with broadcasters from all major territories. His credits included such films as, “Redline” starring Chad McQueen and Michael Madsen for Newline Cinema; “Driven” starring Chad Lowe for HBO; “Stargames” starring Tony Curtis; “Rule of Three” starring William Forsythe, and “Browns Requiem” based on James Elroy's novel for HBO, to name a few.
Deborah McCoy-Larson
Deborah McCoy-Larson is Consulting Vice-President of Business Affairs. Ms. McCoy-Larson currently holds the position of Senior Director of Contract Administration affairs at ABC- Family-Disney.
In January of 1992, Ms. McCoy-Larson accepted a position at Saban Entertainment, Inc. As Manager of Administration, Business & Legal Affairs, her responsibilities included the administration, negotiation, and drafting of business affairs contracts. She was also named the company's Guild Liaison with ACTRA, AFTRA, DGA, SAG, and WGA. Ms. McCoy's duties included a broad scope of legal matters for projects including acquisitions, negative pickups, network MOW's (Movie of the Week), and children's live-action and animated series. She was also solely responsible for the Credit Administration of all Saban properties, as well as all acquired properties (DIC, Fuji, Tatsunoko, Fox, MTM, O'Hara Horowitz, among others).
In April of 1997, Ms. McCoy-Larson was promoted to Director of Administration, Business & Legal Affairs. In November of that same year, she was promoted to Director of Production Business Affairs for Fox Family Worldwide, Inc. (the parent company of Saban Entertainment, Inc., Fox Children's Network, and Fox Family Channel). Her responsibilities included the negotiation and drafting of all above-the-line contracts, legal clearances and permissions, legal review and negotiation of all production-related contracts, managing union issues and overseeing immigration matters, in connection with the production, distribution and exploitation of live-action television series, motion pictures, specials, interstitials, and direct-to-video releases. In 2001, Ms. McCoy-Larson was promoted to Senior Director of Business Affairs. She oversaw the entire department in addition to a personal staff of ten full time employees.
Ms. McCoy-Larson's feature credits include ”Michael Jordan: An American Hero,” “Men in White,” “Casper: A Spirited Beginning,” “Casper Meets Wendy,” “Addams Family Reunion,” “Rusty: The Great Rescue,” “Blindfold: Acts of Obsession,” “Under Investigation, “and “Hostile Intentions,” to name a few. Ms. McCoy's children's live-action series include “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” “The All New Addams Family Series,” “Sweet Valley High,” “The All New Captain Kangaroo,” “Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation,” and “Breaker High,” among others. Her children's' animated series include ”Digimon,” Xyber-9,” “Pigs Next Door,” “X-Men,” “ Silver Surfer,” “Oliver Twist,” “Space Strikers,” “Bad Dog,” “Diabolik,” “Spy Dogs,” and a multitude of others.
